Effects of Big Five Personality Factors and Self-esteem on SNS Addiction Tendency in College Students

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine effects of big five personality factors and self-esteem on SNS addiction tendency in college students. The subjects in this study were 325 selected college students in the region of Busan and Gyeongsangbuk-do. Their big five personality factors, self-esteem and SNS addiction tendency were assessed to gather data, and a correlation analysis was carried out to look for connections among the variables by SPSS 18.0. The major findings of the study were as follows; First, there were significant differences according to gender and grade among the college students in SNS addiction tendency. Second, the neuroticism and self-esteem has influences on their SNS addiction tendency. Findings and implications of this study are discussed.
